Oxford and Witney

After a smooth 8 hour flight from Chicago to London and a beautiful drive from the airport, I arrived in Oxford at 7:30 AM. My friend Jamie Liddell (who I was visiting, he recently moved to England with his family from Colorado) could not meet me in Oxford until 9:30 AM, but I was eager to see the town and University so I lugged my two large suitcases around what seemed to be a ghost town as no one was awake. This was probably a good thing because I can't imagine how dorky and touristy I looked rolling my suitcases around, stopping in the road to take pictures, dropping my papers, etc. Oh well. The University was absolutely beautiful and very interesting. 38 colleges within the University wind throughout the town, a format much different from the American university system.

After some time I stopped in a very quaint ;) tea and pastry shop called The Croissanterie for a nice cup of English Breakfast Tea and a croissant until Jamie arrived to head to his town about 20 minutes from Oxford called Witney.

We had to stop at the Pitt Rivers Museum of Anthropology and Archeology...well because I love anthropology. You could easily spend weeks in there, they have so much stuff.

Our first stop in Witney was to grab a pint (or three) at a local pub called The Red Lion (no Phil Long present).

Jamie's sister Imogen joined us going out. Lots of fun in Witney the first night at a few pubs.
